The National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research
The Ministry established the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research in 1999 to promote, market and facilitate technology transfer. The Institute is managed by a Management Board with representatives from the Ministry, the National Science and Technology Council, Zambia Association of Manufacturers, Small Enterprise Development Board, Zambia Association for Women in Science and Technology and eminent person in scientific research and development from the private or public institution
The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson are elected by the members of the Board amongst themselves. The Management Board appoints the Director who is the Chief Executive of the Institute. The regulations that govern the operations of the Institute are under the Statutory Instrument No.137 of 1999
The Institute is specialised has two specialised centres, the Livestock and Pest Control Research Centre and the Tree and Natural Resources Research Centre.
